The Star Inn in Bentworth, Alton

My regular walking companion and I lunched at The Star Inn last Sunday, which had a banner proclaiming that it is under new management and with a new chef. For the record, we had not been there before, but we found the management and staff extremely friendly and courteous, and our lunch delightful: the pepper squid starter was delicious, and the roast rib eye of beef was thickly cut, moist, and beautifully tender. The final bonus was a decent quantity of gravy, provided in a gravy boat left for us on the table – all too often one gets gravy already on the plate, and usually of an inadequate amount.
