Rounds & Son in Preston

Now I like Rounds pies and have always recommended them to my friends but yesterday I made a special journey to order four large pork pies for Christmas Eve. The order was written in a book and I was told that they must be picked up by 2pm. Christmas Eve I went to pick up my pies. I waded through the traffic from Fulwood and got to the pie shop at 1.40pm. When I asked for my pies I was told that they had none as someone had mis-calculated the figures and since I was the last person to come for my pies they had all gone. I reminded the shop assistant that the deadline was 2pm and that the order WAS written in the book. "You can have picnic pies", she said, which I refused as these were not what I had ordered. Now seeing that they had a lot of picnic pies left at this time I can only come to the conclusion that they must also have baked a few more large pies than just those ordered. Waste of my time, waste of petrol. Don't bother ordering your pies unless picking them up early as ten to one they will have sold them and wasted your time too.

Ordered 1 doz white tea cakes expecting them to be baked on premises and not mass produced. They no longer bake their own so beware you will get supermarket grade at bakers prices. Wish I had been told when I phoned up to order that they no longer make their own I could have bought those anywhere .

Ordered 6 meat and potato pies. On eating one for his tea my husband found we had been given mince beef pies instead. Could not eat as not what asked, required and paid for and all I could taste was far too much salt.

Perfect pies, what more can I say!
