We stayed in a midship suite. I think was ideal considering we were first timers, as this is the most stable part of the ship, nice especially when the sea is rough. The Queen Suites are very spacious, with plenty of room for clothes and luggage. The bathroom was also very good in size.
Phone and internet connection were available at all times with just a few interruptions here an there.
Food was ok. We are not the types who go on a cruise to eat eat eat, but we would have appreciated it if food was a bit better.
Our Cabin Steward took excellent care of us and we felt special throughout the cruise. All in all, I would rate this experience a 4 out of 5, and we are definitely willing to go again!
This was our third Transatlantic Cruise. Previous 2 voyages were 7 days eastbound, and we decided to try westbound this time. Embarkation in Southampton and went smoothly.
Let me start by saying that we were as usual very pleased with the cruise and the overall experience.
We had Britannia grade sheltered balcony cabin on deck 4. Our cabin was spacious and always clean.
We had first seating in the Britannia restaurant at a table for 4. Our table mates were lovely. The food was good and the staff very flexible. On many occasions we had several appetizers and no main course, and that was perfectly fine.
We also ate several times in the Kings Court buffet, especially at breakfast. Luckily, we never found Kings Court to be crowded. The food was mostly the same as Britannia, with a few nice additions, and the service was good.
Queen Mary 2 really has a lot to offer: concerts, music, lectures, dancing and singing and acting performances. The library is fantastic and you can always enjoy a good read in one of the many public spaces on the ship. This time we took a line dance lesson and had a ton of fun.
The maintenance of the ship was excellent. Use of the washing machines is free, and the laundry rooms are always clean.
The Service was excellent in all areas, and staff members seemed to enjoy their jobs. A special mention goes to our lovely cabin steward Tatiana, who took really good care of us.
The few negatives: quality of meals was not always consistent, varying from excellent to good to OK. The performers were also OK but not great (especially the singers), and the drinks at the bar a bit overpriced for what you got.
Overall, an excellent experience, one that I would not hesitate to recommend (actually, we already did).
We are back from the QM2 Southampton to New York crossing.
It was our second Cunard cruise and it was even better than the first one. Everything was great, from food to accommodation to entertainment. Staff was very polite and obliging. They even provided us with a day room at JFK Airport on our return.
Overall we were really pleased with the experience, great value for money.
