Swainson & Cowins in Penrith

I have found Swainson & Cowins to be extremely efficient, when the floods hit us, even though they were really busy they took the time to ask what I needed and when. They delivered on the day they had agreed and the new discount for pre paying system was a bonus. Due to damage around our house, they had to deliver into a difficult area but it is the same coalman we have always had and he understood where we had asked our delivery to be stacked. I've not had an issue since the companies have merged but if there has ever been any difficulties (like the floods) they have got in touch an explained. I was surprised to read the review above as I have always found them helpful and good service even when it's been difficult for them after merging.

I recently placed an order for coal delivery before Christmas and was told that my coal would be delivered on the Monday (last date before Xmas). I waited in all day but no coal arrived. I called and was told that the delivery wagon was still out and to wait. It didn't arrive so I called and left a message. When I'd heard nothing tues am I called back and was told they'd text me. No text but they got a digit wrong apparently. I was promised coal that afternoon. No coal arrived. I called back at 17:00 and was told they were surprised I hadn't had it but would chase it up. Wednesday am, I called back and was told the driver had delivers it to a neighbour on Tuesday by mistake but they would come and deliver it to me within half hour. I waited for four hours they never came and I guess I'd still be waiting had I not collected it myself three bags of dirty wet coal sat out in open bags overnight. No apology, nothing. Rubbish service and clearly not valued as a new customer.
