Smart Homes Southern in Southampton

I was asked to be a guarantor on a student let by my son. The company required me to provide far more financial information than even my bank require for a mortgage. That can't be right. They also refused to provide their data protection information until I refused to proceed.
Their alternative solution was 6 months rent up front, 6 months before the rental started. While I appreciate they have to protect their assists, I think this is unrealistic and unnecessary behaviour.
