Description:
The Social Club assured its place in history when, in 1967, it became the first ever Highland League Social Club. Prior to this the club had been St. Drostans Scottish Episcopal Church. The building was purchased from the diocese for the princely sum of £600 in November 1966 and following a lot of hard work, mainly carried out free of charge by local folks, the club was opened in July 1967. The layout of the club has, of course, changed since the early days with the Public bar now being situated on the original site of the Lounge bar.
The main hall in the club is suitable for a wide range of uses and is utilised by a broad spectrum of members. During the winter months we see it being used on Monday and Tuesday evenings by the Rothes Indoor Bowling Club. Sunday, Wednesday and Friday evenings are reserved for “your favourite game”. Coffee mornings and Tombola nights are held on a monthly basis.
The club is becoming increasingly popular for wedding receptions. The close proximity to the church makes it an ideal venue for local newlyweds to greet their guests following the ceremony.
