Dial A Door in Orpington

We hired Dial-a-Door from 11/12/13. I and my husband contracted him to build our bathroom. At first the owner, Brian, seemed like a nice person but was asking for too much money before the job. He hired a plumber whom he refused to pay, then asked the plumber to ask us for money after we paid him £1700. The job agreed costing for labour was 2750. He lied to the plumber that I and my husband will pay him whereas he brought in the plumber. He destroyed our Christmas and new year. He is lazy, liar, deceiving and dishonest.
He started the job well by ripping off our old bathroom and plastered it in the first two days. After that, the job slowed down really badly, we didn't see Brian for 4 days after we gave him a total of £1700. By the 31st we had to terminate the contract because he failed to meet the deadlines which was as a result of unnecessary delays. We also terminated the contract because he claimed to be travelling/going on holiday on new years' day. He promised the job would be complete by the 31st before going on holiday on new years day. He assured us so strongly that we believed him.
These are some of our major issues, after he left on the 31/12/13. We found out some messy tiling, wrongly fitted bath, a bath screen can't go in, didn't get rid of any rubbish, trims at the edges of tiles were fixed poorly. He is a rouge and so inconsiderate, as the work he was hired to do dragged on, our normal daily lives were stripped away from me and my little boys (7 and 3 years old). On one occasion we didn't take our bath for 3 days. He was dishonest, didn't show up to work for 4 days and failed to pay his plumber called Jason. He is described as lazy as he only worked 4 or 5 hours a day, arrived late in the morning e.g. one occasion he arrived at 10am, another at 12pm citing all manners of excuse. All along Jason the plumber would carry on working late into the evening. We were upset on new years eve because other trade companies came in to look at the work and it was brought to our attention that he rushed through some tiling. He asked for the balance of £1000 even when the work was incomplete. We are now on the process of reporting his poor service. He refused to compensate us for any damages.Bottom line: do not do business with this man.
