They do not appear to be completely independent at all. Not ethical or professional and unable to write or research a case properly or fully.

I complained about my new engineered wooden floor.

XYLO maintained that their flooring had adequate protection with UV treatment (against light changes).

XYLO missed the point, it was scratches and white markings from felt pads, after the very first family dinner, that I was complaining about. All legs and furniture from day one were fitted with felt pads.
XYLO asked this company to inspect.

A man attended who was unable to give me any opinion on the day. I showed him the markings on the floor. He did tell me that UV was not usually sufficient. I was surprised he had told me this much.

He told me I would not be allowed a copy of the report. I was astonished.

When the retail outlet settled with me (Hampton Flooring were very very good indeed and utterly ethical and professional), they also kindly sent me a copy of the report from INDEPENDENT INSPECTIONS Ltd.

The report was short and did not contain any investigation or mention of what protective layer had been in evidence by XYLO. It stated that chalk from padding had marked the grain and that the other scratches were possibly due to grit or dirt - no evidence at all supplied.

I rang the staff and eventually spoke to the manager MS Bradley. She repeated that it was the company policy not to divulge reports to anyone but the person who had requested their services. I questioned this policy as being an indicator that they were not independent and were taking sides; that the content of the report also seemed to support this. She had no idea what other policies are generally used by these Independent assessors but this was their policy. I told her it was not fair neither transparent.

She could not give me any feed back on my comments although it was all being recorded (so what?). I pointed out the lack of evidence in the shoddy report - evidence of anything other than the clear fact that the floor was marking very very easily indeed and clearly lacked any protection at all. Was there even any evidence that this report was actually independent? Was the person who wrote it actually a qualified investigator? I suggested not. She could and would not comment. No one could comment or wanted to - 'Not at liberty'
