The River and Rowing Museum
Description:
The River & Rowing Museum sits 5 minutes walk from Henley town centre overlooking the river. It boasts 4 main galleries. The Rowing Gallery which takes you on a journey from rowings beginning as a means of trade and transport to the Olympic sport that we in the UK are so proud of. The River gallery difficult to describe as it covers so many aspects of life in the river, on the river, not to mention life by the river. The past the present and the future all displayed in an interesting and active way. The Henley gallery, the story of this remarkable town that is so much more than the home of the world famous Henley Royal Regatta. The Henley Gallery is also home to the amazing Jan Siberechts painting of "Henley from the Wargrave Road 1698" Finally the Wind in the Willows this is a walk through the story and captures the imagination of children and Adults alike.
Nothing completes a visit to the Museum like a little retail therapy and a coffee both of which are well catered for. The shop is not your usual Museum shop it truly is a a gift shop with the added advantage of Souvinirs of your visit. The Terrace cafe is just plain fabulous.
