Woodville Kennels and Cattery in Wirral

My dog was left in a unappealing and unattractive kennel that was soaked from top to bottom! It was as though somebody had been hosing down the kennel with my dog inside!

When I went to visit I could see other dogs in apparent "Beds" that consisted of a blanket on the floor, one dog had what looked to be a Cat bed to sleep in while others had chewed plastic beds!

Some of the roofs of the kennels where missing the plastic covering so if a dog jumped they could easily grab hold of the wood and I would suspect water could easily get in. The kennels looked very dirty and unhygienic and there was no drainage that I could see at the front of the kennels. This would mean anything washed out of the kennels would just soak into the stones at the front and be very unhygienic for dogs and people working there.

The indoor exercise area is not fit to exercise any animal in, it looks very dusty and cannot be good for the dogs health while they are running around in there. My dog has an exercise tracker on his collar and he did not move from the site for his whole visit. They claim to walk them around the village and the walk behind the kennels but mine went nowhere!

When I collected him he was wet and they informed me that he had been bathed and groomed, which I never asked for! I would have been more than happy to have my dog groomed but only if they asked first. What happens if a dog has a skin condition and they use the wrong shampoo!

The staff where very unhelpful and not very friendly, and appeared very inexperienced and not very knowledgeable.

Don't get me wrong the location is lovely, the office is very appealing and welcoming and the courtyard looks lovely with the horses and stables around, however the rest of the facilities let it down.

It is a shame because I had high hopes for this place due to the positive reviews lately and was really looking forward to going on holiday without any worry for my dog.

I don't think I will go back anytime soon!
