We hired a van for 20 hours. The person checking the vehicle before it was checked out missed a rather large scratch which we had to point out and was then added to the diagram. Upon returning it, a 4-5 inch crack had developed on the windscreen caused by an undetected chip under the windscreen wiper we had not noticed upon checkout.
Needless to say they were only too happy to charge for a new windscreen no matter how much we explained to head office that a crack resulting from a chip can sometimes takes days or weeks to spread and if their "checker" had not noticed an obvious scratch, it was only natural he would not have noticed a small chip. They may be cheaper, but don't be surprised if you end up by paying for damages caused by previous customers that Northgate found only too late to charge them, as they will charge the next unsuspecting customer.
