Avoniel SKC was established 1995 and is situated just outside Belfast city centre. The club has a membership of around 20 students who have had various successes at local and national levels. The instructor is John Richardson. John started karate back in 1984 at the, Rochfords Shotokan SKC Slough. He gained his 1st and 2nd Dan under the late Sensei Enoeda. He then moved to Belfast and gained his 3rd Dan in October 1998 his 4th Dan August 2005 and his 5th Dan 2014 under Sensei Kawasoe JKA. John is also a recognized JKA Instructor Level C.
