Description:
The Donkey Sanctuary Belfast is the perfect place for animal lovers and families. Providing visitors with the chance to meet our beautiful rescue donkeys, discover their unique characters and see first-hand how we care for these incredible animals.

Founded in 1969 by Dr Elisabeth Svendsen MBE, The Donkey Sanctuary has grown into an international animal welfare charity that continues to work tirelessly protecting donkeys and mules worldwide. Over the past 40 years the Sanctuary has provided more than 16,500 donkeys and mules with lifelong care in the UK, Ireland and mainland Europe.

Our team of specially trained donkeys provide assisted therapy to hundreds of local school children with additional needs and disabilities. All sessions are tailored to ensure each child can learn, develop and have fun in our specially designed indoor arenas. Donkey assisted therapy offers a number of emotional and physical benefits and helps to give children a real sense of achievement.

Visit The Donkey Sanctuary Belfast to get up close to our four-legged friends. You can even adopt some of them on our Adopt a Donkey scheme.

While admission and parking is free, however, as a charity, donations are always welcome and will help support our vital work. Throughout the year we host a number of exciting events and activities and can accommodate trips for larger groups too; to find out more contact Belfast.

Please call or visit our website for more information. Our donkeys look forward to meeting you soon!
