Penylins Wee Irish Café, on Lowther Street, brings the genuine Irish taste of Wheaten & Soda Breads, Soda Farls, and the classic Ulster Fry to Carlisle. Lynn has turned this newly opened cafe into a magnet for Irish expats and students studying locally with its taste of the auld country. Enjoy generous portions of homemade soda breads, which turn our traditional full breakfasts into the classic Ulster Fry!
There is a very tasty selection of traditional Irish breads, wheatens and scones! The café opened in May 2017, to share Lynn's passion for the benefits of simple Irish cooking and Ireland’s traditional tastes. Visitors especially seem to like the homemade soda farls and breads used in an Ulster Fry up or having them pan fried and served with Irish sausages. Lynn recounts the tale of the day when she had a group of customers who drove all the way from Manchester for a sample of Penylins Ulster Fry before driving back to the city well satisfied!
