St John's Church in Greenside, Ryton
St John's Church
Description:
Greenside Parish is made up of two churches - St John's Church in Greenside and Church of the Holy Spirit in Crawcrook. We worship as one congregation, alternating between the two venues. We are a friendly, lively Anglican church. Greenside Parish belongs in Gateshead West Deanery, in Durham Diocese and is located 9 miles west of Gateshead, in the north east of England. St John's Church is a more traditional building and Church of the Holy Spirit more contemporary. The distance between the two church venues is only a mile. We also have a large venue at St John's Community Hall, opposite St John's Church, which is well used by both church and community. As a church, we aim to be faithful to the Good News of the Holy Scriptures. We believe in the authority of the Bible as the true revelation of God. We believe that the Gifts of the Holy Spirit are for today and seek God's wisdom in using them for the glory of His name.
We believe the purpose of our Church is: 'To grow God's Kingdom by knowing Jesus and making Him known'.
The Church Office is open Wednesdays and Thursdays 10. 30am to 12. 30pm.
