Shalimar Takeaway in Cowgate, Newcastle Upon Tyne

Last week I ate the hottest curry I have eaten! Thank god I was prepared as this takeaway had warned me that my prawn jalfrezi would be really hot. It was an 'interesting' experience to say the least. Overall, food was delicious and will order again from Shalimar.

Ordered food from JustEat. Food arrived one and a half hours later. Was not hot enough, tasteless, and not as described. We have used this takeaway many times before and it has gone down hill very quickly.

Will not use this takeaway again and would not recommend anymore. Very disappointed with poor service.

Curry was a bit too oily for my taste, the food was nice but not great. However, for the price I paid this was an ok deal for me, delivery was on time. I think I'll give them another chance.

I used the twice, first time the meal was nice but the following week, not good! Lamb was very tough - Will give them another chance as first meal was really good, and will see which of my two very different experiences proves to be the 'norm'.

Love the food from this place, the nan babs are amazing.

Not happy with my experience, food was not enough for an adult, my portions of chicken tikka mumbai was small to say the least. Same for the doner kebab which my wife ordered. Tastes ok but they should be more generous with portions.

Delivery was missing a portion, however I called them and they were quick enough to send the missing portion, with no questioning. Good customer service.

Shalimar is defo one of the best takeaways in Newcastle. Staff are polite, they offer a quality service, delivery is quick. Most importantly, the food is amazing. The King Prawn Curry deserves a special mention as it is one of the best I've ever eaten. Sooo goood! Go Shalimar!

I am not a fan of indian cuisine, but pizza and kebab here are really good so those will do for my tastes!

Great value for money, will definitely use Shaimar again and would recommend it. If you like Indian food, you should try this. Food is tasty and delivered on time, plus good portion sizes.

Food is always lovely from here, always hot and plenty of it, Indian cuisine is lovely just as the pizzas and kebabs, nanbabs best in Newcastle!! Friendly helpful staff too!!

Would not go anywhere else for my takeaway food, highly recommended. You should try the Lamb Tikka Curry...taste-licious!
